Château de Pressac 2016 : 95/100

From the cool limestone plateau to the east of St Emilion. This is dark, very concentrated, with smoky black bean and dried olives on the nose, with a wild herb lift. The palate is very polished, very rich, textural, with a powdered substance through the middle and finish, underpinned by a lovely ripe tannic grip. This has the very dark fruit character of the eastern plateau, more so than ever in this vintage I think. The fruit carries a lifted, pure, minty grip. This is quite possibly the best potential I have tasted in Pressac, and I was already a fan. Very good.
