« From the eastern side of the plateau, and with most of the Bordeaux varieties planted, in 2018 this is a blend of 74 % Merlot, 16 % Cabernet Franc, 7 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 2 % Carmenere and 1 % Malbec (or Noir de Pressac as they call it here, and who can blame them ?). This has a dark, defined and rather savoury nose, marked by scents of salted black olives and grilled plums, all quite dry and toasted in character, which I like very much. A beautifully reposed palate, fresh, so elegant and effortless, with a polished and sinewy concentration of substance, without too much fat, yet it brims with perfumed black olive, black cherry, damson, currant and violet fruits. Correct, lined with grippy tannins, firm, fresh, energetic and certainly balanced, with a fine grip to the finish and length. This is great stuff. 94-96/100. »
