Chateau de Pressac 2019 – 94 points : « Sweet cherry and violets on the nose. Lovely smooth texture with fruit that has great precision and mouth watering acidity – strawberry, red cherries and redcurrants. It’s fresh and fruity with a texture that just gently grips and holds interest. I like this and the long finish too. Just the barest hint of freshly picked mint leaves on the finish adding a cooling element to the final impression. »

« Robe grenat profonde, encore jeune, avec des nuances pourpre violacées qui colorent le verre ; on trouve également de l’épaisseur avec des larmes multiples et courtes sur le disque. Le nez est fin et racé on perçoit immédiatement des notes d’élevage qui se mêlent à des parfums de fruits rouges et noirs (mûre, cerise, framboise et cassis) et de zan. L’aération confirme cet élevage avec des fragrances chocolatés, torréfiées, de moka, de feuilles de Havane et d’épices douces (la vanille). C’est un nez complexe et évolutif. En bouche, on a un vin certes juvénile avec de la sève et du corps mais aussi de l’élégance. L’attaque est ample, pleine, charnue avec la restitution des parfums fruités gorgés de soleil. A l’évolution même si l’on garde une structure harmonieuse on a une structure nettement plus puissante avec des tanins fins. L’ensemble est onctueux et savoureux ; il y a bcp de charme. Finale persistante entre la griotte et ses parfums boisés. «

« 65% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Pressac, 2% Carménère) : Nez ouvert, montre beaucoup de fruits noirs, des notes épicées, des notes florales résonnent également. En bouche, dense, concentré, corsé, de texture légèrement crémeuse, le vin montre de la rondeur, mais est très élégant. Se terminant sur un fruit mûr et chaleureux et une saveur presque épicée, plutôt rouge-fruitée dans la rétrofinale. 2023-2035 +. »

Château de Pressac 2005 : 92/100

The 2005 de Pressac is a rich, heady wine. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, leather, spice, blood orange and lavender flesh out. Sumptuous and bold, with tons of immediacy, the 2005 has enough richness to drink well for another decade or so. It’s a decidedly flashy, well-balanced Saint-Émilion full of charm.

« The 2018 Château De Pressac showed beautifully, with a rich, medium to full-bodied, incredibly elegant style that carries lots of darker berry fruits as well as chocolate, earth, bouquet garni, and tobacco. I love its texture, the purity of fruit is spot on, it has integrated tannins, and a great finish. I suspect this will go down as one of the all-time greats from this estate. Give bottles 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 15-20 years. The blend is 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, all brought up in 50% new French oak. »

« A beautiful almost poetic red by Chateau de Pressac – filled with a mix of both red and black fruits, sweet spices and violets. Tannins are suave, plush and firm – very well handled. Long, lingering finish. »
