Château de Pressac

Decanter – MAI 2022 – 95 pts

95 : Bright and vibrant, a lovely cleanness , so pure, so fine and well worked, generous, appealing but the weight and the texture and the tannic integration is flawless. Round, easy, lovely black and red fruits, great chalky coolness with some minerality and liquorice, graphite tang on the finish. A wine you could drink today but know there’s power underneath. Compelling and a clear buy. Detailed, finessed, refined, balanced and crisp, juicy and charming. Everything you want in a wine.

Antonio Galloni – Décembre 2022 – 94pts

“The 2020 de Pressac is a wine of real charm and seduction. Bright floral and citrus notes drive a core of sweet red cherry fruit. Chalk, mint, white pepper, smoke and dried herbs lend notable aromatic complexity. As always, the blend includes Cabernet Franc plus drops of Malbec and Carménère, which lends quite a bit of nuance. The 2020 is an especially elegant Pressac. In my view, Pressac remains one of the most criminally underrated wines in all of Saint-Emilion. On the other hand, that makes it a screaming value. »

Jane Anson – Décembre 2022 – 93pts

“This has character and interest, tons of personality, black fruits, spiced red peppers, liqourice and aniseed. 32 ha of vines on largely clay-limestone slopes. Good stuff. Quenin family. Hubert de bouard consultant, 34hl/ha yield.”

James Suckling – Novembre 2022 – 94pts

“This has a dark and spiced character with plums and blackberries on offer as well as chocolate and walnut undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with firm tannins and a toned, vivid character. Deep and black fruited palate with a textured, lingering finish. Drink from 2025.”

Jürade St-Émilion – Singapour Gala Nov – 2022

« 2012 Château de Pressac. Deep garnet. Richly layered with ample depth of black fruits and currants. Fleshy with savoury tones on a sweet cedary floor, displaying youthful exuberance. »

RVF (Karine Valentin) – Mai 2022 – 92-93pts

Jeff Leve – Mai 2022 – 92-94pts

Smoky, with a leafy, tobacco edge to the elegant, refined, fresh, cherries and plums. Medium-bodied, soft and silky, there is a nice sweetness to the fruits on the palate and in the finish, with its touch of chocolate-mint in the endnote. Not much wine was made as the yields were under 15 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2023-2035.

Falstaff – Mai 2022 – 92pts

Dark garnet, narrow purple rim. Delicate nougat, dark berry fruit, a hint of plums and blackberries, hints of liquorice and tangerine zest. Medium-bodied, elegant, red cherries, ripe, fine tannins, pleasant minerality, balance and length; certainly has ageing potential.

Alexandre Ma – Avril 2022 – 92-93pts

Pressac 2021 is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé with elegance and power. Its mellow and jucy taste is very attracive. Siytting in the smooth and clear body is the mild freshnes. Focusing on the tongue, I can feel that every corner of my moth is coated with the calky refined structure. Accompanied by the slightly by the sour and sweet flavors of dried plum at the end, the attractive fragrances fill my palate.

Jean-Marc Quarin – Avril 2022 – 92pts

Antonio Galloni – Avril 2022 – 92-94pts

The 2021 Château de Pressac is one the under the radar gems in Saint-Emilion. Bright red/purplish fruit rose petal, lavender, spice, mocha and new leather are all kicked up in a Saint-Emilion that balances fruit richness with energy. The 2021 is naturally not as deep or opulent as some recent vintages, but it neverthelesshas plenty of complexity and character, not to mention the stylish personnality that makes it one the most distinctive wines in all of Bordeaux. Tasted three times.

Very beautiful aromas of redcurrants and ripe plums with bark and moss, following through to a medium to full body with firm, creamy tannins and hints of salt and fresh herbs. So attractive now, but much better in 2025 and onwards.

Antonio Galloni – Février 2022 – 95pts

The 2019 de Pressac is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. A complex, mesmerizing wine, Pressac offers up an exotic mélange of black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and menthol. All the elements are so well balanced. Espresso,, lavender, dried rose petal and cedar linger on the complex, beautifully delineated finish. The 2019 is seriously impressive. It’s as simple as that. Pressac remains one of the most distinctive wines in the appellation, and yet I rarely see it talked about.

Peter Moser – Janvier 2022 – 93pts

Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Ockerrandaufhellung.

Jancis Robinson – Janvier 2022 – 16.5/20

Quite an evolved garnet, almost ruby. And evolved aromatically too with well-integrated flavours. The fruit seems to have been pretty ripe here though there is freshness too. Only light tannins. Pleasure in the relatively short term?

Alexandre Ma – Janvier 2022 – 94pts

Compared to the En Primeur, the oak barrel aroma of Pressac 2019 is much softer, and I can see the picture of flowers blooming and spices flying without difficulty. The minerality and elegance gifted by the limestone plateau are perfectly displayed in this wine. Clear and juicy of taste, sweet and supple of body, and full of feeling of smiles from beginning to end, it is a veritable wine of terroir.
